National League Game of The Week
This week’s National League featured matchup is between nWo(2-2) and Dynasty (1-3). The venue for this game is at Stillwell Park in Syosset. It is a new field to the SASL. It features a dirt infield that is well maintained and a deep outfield without any fences. Outfielders will need to be quick to the ball as anything through the gap can easily turn into an inside the park home run. It does feature a private parking lot, but quite a walk from the lot to the field so players should plan to be a few minutes early to the game. The outfield lacks dedicated foul lines so captains may want to consider bringing cones to avoid that foul ball down the right-field line turning into a home run because blue is near-sighted and has cataracts.
Dynasty looks to rebound from a disappointing start to the season and avoid putting themselves in a hole like last year when they didn’t clinch a playoff birth until the last week of the season. They do have new and familiar faces on their team as they had to replace some players who departed to play with other teams. Dynasty, led by Gaurav and Saj bring class to the league and are professionals on and off the field. Their team plays the game the way it should be played. They are fundamentally sound and leave the trash talking out of it unlike many of the drama driven divas in the SASL.
nWo, led by longtime SASLer, Ayaz is all about talking. As if we don’t hear from him enough during the game, we are blessed with him hosting an interview afterward. It’s surprising that the team hasn’t changed their name to the new day. Many of us are still waiting to see these guys play in a night game with projection screens, fireworks, and theme songs as they come up to bat. However, Ayaz keeps it real and has his team ready to compete every week. The team’s name may have changed over the years but the core of the team is still the same. Despite all the jokes, these guys exhibit great sportsmanship.
Prediction: Split with both games being close and game 2 ending prior to 7 innings due to time constraints
