Make Dad Bods Great Again!

A Look Back at 2019:

Dad Bods were a brand new team and made their debut in 2019. Captain Parvesh knew it was going to be a trying season to get all the new guys acclimated to the league, but he was determined to build for the long term. In year 1, they finished with a 4-18 record which placed them at the bottom of their division. They simultaneously had the worst offense and defense in the league, leading to the worst  run differential in the league.

However, Dad Bods never quit and always played with a lot of heart. Some say they are the epitome of what SASL is all about: camaraderie, sportsmanship, and competition. The won and lost with grace and took their beatings like men. It wasn’t easy, but a trying 2019 season will help them understand what it takes to win in the SASL in the future.

Best thing about their 2019 may have been their team name and logo. Both were massive hits in the SASL community. Keep having fun guys!

A Look Ahead at 2020:

We aren’t sure if Dad Bods roster got any better by any influx of new players, rather their current crop of guys had an offseason they should have used to get better. This is a close knit group and we didn’t expect them to alter the chemistry by adding any players that would drastically change their fortunes.

Captain Parvesh would do well to play his best 10 guys in games they know they can win. Adding extra batters can give away easy innings to the other team. Some teams deal with attendance issues but Dad Bods have the other problem. Too many guys show up every week. It is very hard for a captain to manage a lineup when there are 13-14 guys every week.

Their top 4-5 guys are usually very solid both ways. Amar is a very good outfielder and solid hitter. Andy, Eric and Randy will produce in the middle of the lineup. At their best they can put up double digit runs against any team. Their defense always leaves a lot to be desired however.

Our Prediction:

One division this year means a lot of upper level players sprinkled in to other teams. Of the 12 teams, Dad Bods probably have around the 10-12th best roster. 10 of the 12 teams make playoffs, but our prediction is Dad Bods will be 1 of 2 teams on the outside looking in when all things are done.

Best Players:

Overall we think their best players are Amar and Randy. Amar plays 110% every time he steps on the field. We are talking about a guy who ran into fences multiple times. Randy is a great fielder with solid pop. The Magalona brothers can be All Star type hitters but their attendance is very spotty.

Players To Watch For:

Alvin is someone we are closely watching. Not only is he a solid hitter, we have seen him time and time again giving his teammates advice on how to be a better hitter. Overall, he has a great effect on their team. The unsung hero of this team maybe is Amni. He embodies Dad Bods attitude of laidback have fun at all times. He is the type of player to always keep the mood in the sidelines loose no matter the score.

Hear It From The Captain: Parvesh Kandhela

1. What do you enjoy most about your role as team captain?

—Nothing really. Maybe perks of declaring BP sessions based on my ability. And of course the boost my ego trip gets by bossing around grown men around (vent out my frustration from my boss to them lol)

2. Who do you think will be your toughest competition this season?

—Hit squad, HeavyHittaz or The North. I don’t recall who won. I guess my answer is whoever won it all last year.

3. What do you think are your team’s strong points? Weak points?

—Our strong point is definitely our attitude no matter what the situation tie game in 11th inning (actually happened against the dynasty) or mercy rule in 3 innings (happened too many times to list) we are out there having fun. You could also say our pitcher is our strong point too doesn’t walk many people. Weak point would be we fail to bring in the runner. We’ll get traffic on base just need more timely hits to drive them in.

4. How do you see your teams season play out this season?

—One word. Playoffs. Ill elaborate since one word answers are discouraged. Being more competitive goin full 7 innings every-game. 10/12 teams make playoffs so I see us making it.
