BOLD PREDICTIONS: SASL 2019 VERSION
With 2019 SASL Spring/Summer season right around the corner, we have dusted off our trusty crystal ball. The league has progressively gotten more and more competitive every season. We expect a lot of surprises; and lot of same old same from some teams. But below we are going with the mantra ‘Go Bold or Go Home’ and giving some Bold Predictions for the upcoming season. With it being 2019, here are 19 bold predictions:
American League:
- The MVP for the second straight year came from the Mets. Kunal Sra won it in 2017. Ramy Abdelhamid won it in 2018. This year we see Denon Olson win it by dominating the league wire to wire after a few close MVP races. This race won’t be close.
- The Mighty Ducks lose at least 8 games this season. The Ducks had an unbelievable year with an undefeated regular season and capped it off with a great championship. The players are a year older, and less hungry. Championship hangover is real.
- Savages will have another Rookie of the Year with rookie Tom Kahl joining the league. Dex Ortiz won it last year in convincing fashion. The amount of elite players Savages have in the pipeline every year is nothing short of amazing.
- Some All Stars that did not make it last year that will be in the AL All Star team this year: Jason Gregory, Michael Kauffman, Yasar Bokhari, Saad Yousuf.
- Troopers make it to the playoffs after last year’s disaster season. Their players are healthy and they have retooled. This may be the boldest prediction in here.
- Savages after 2 straight years of Finals appearance will make it 3 straight finals where they will face off against Empire in a rematch of 2017 Finals.
- Missing the playoffs? Mets. If they can stay healthy, this prediction will look foolish in hindsight.
- SNL this year will be Troopers and Ducks. Book it.
National League:
-
- Hit Squad lost their best player in Frank Perez and will still finish as a top 3 seed. 2018 was a retooling year and they won the championship. 2019 will be similar.
- Ali Najimi of Hit Squad wins the Manager of the Year with Parvesh Kandhela finishing second from our rookie team Dad Bods.
- Who will win the MVP? Too close to call but one of the following 5 will win it: Frank Perez, Naeem Bhalli, Jojo Rodriguez, Sajeel Haque and Ahmad Halimi.
-
- Most surprising team? Strike Force. After two lackluster years, they finally finish the season in a high note with a surprising playoff berth. Arshad is one of the most dedicated captains.
- Final four in the playoffs will be: Scoobies Force vs. Bats, and Hit Squad vs. Dynasty.
- Shooter McGavins will surprise a lot of people this year with some close wins. Their two captains have championship pedigree playing for Savages and Hit Squad in Ronak and Aasheesh.
- Some new All Stars to the NL Division this year: Khurram Syed, Jojo Rodriguez, Kevin Persaud, Joel Enai.
- Bengals make a serious run for the top of the division in the regular season with a retooled team with Manju leading them. Their new additions will bring back the old Bengals prestige but fall short in the playoffs due to lack of experience.
- NWO promises another big year which is followed by another big dud. Their new additions fail to make a big impression and the team continues their downward spiral from a promising franchise to a franchise where they lost most of their players from last year.
- The Ones have lost some serious talent. They lose in the first round as the 6th seed this year after an improbable Finals run. Another big year from Naeem is put to waste.
- Bats send the most All-Stars to the All-star game with at least 5 of their regulars making it. Kunal, Sajeel, Nabeel, Shumail, Zimmad all make it to All-star game and Ahmer has a huge season with the bat.
