The Buzz – The league is cooking!

American League

Empire at 5-5 has definitely underachieved. This weekend they gave new life to the Met’s. With the team that Empire has on paper at least and the run differential, they have of a +29 they need to be playing better.  Is it an issue of too many people on the roster?  Competition is stiff in the American League. Empire needs to strike back this weekend.

Met’s – meet the Met’s meet the Met’s step right up and beat the …oh wait. The Met’s come up with a statement series against Empire. Game 1 was a nail-biter 12-10, but in game 2 the Met’s went full Cespedes on Empire with a beat down.  Has anyone seen the season that Harpreet has started to put together?  If you are impressed go and see what Ramy is doing.

Savages – got 2 free wins vs the Troopers to move above .500 for the first time this season.  Did anyone think that Charley and company were going to take this sitting down?  Although they earned these administrative wins the Savages have crossed the .500 record.

516 – two very close games against the Outlaws.  The depth of the division is no joke.  516 looked unstoppable up until this week.  516 has taken full advantage of the cap and has been making the league pay.  But, with the Outlaws being the Outlaws they can get into the head of any team.

Scooby Scorers – 2 wins and counting this season. Those wins came at the expense of winless teams.  They aren’t Troopers bad, but this team needs to turn it around before the season is over.

Troopers -the toughest thing is to have a team that is winless and to keep them motivated.  The first forfeit of the season and hopefully the last. We have a lot of the regular season left to play.  Will the Troopers respond?  The run differential is so scary right now. The team is getting blown out.

Outlaws – went from white to blue and came up with a split. Very close games with 516- they needed every last player to pull it off against a tough 516 team.

Ducks – all this team does is win win win.  The Mighty Ducks weren’t supposed to be this good.  This team is for real guys. They have the depth, they have the talent, and they even have Saad.

National League

Hit Squad – HitSquad came into first place and got rained on. They escaped with the split.  Purple Reign just made the HitSquad look really old. This isn’t the same HitSquad team of the past. This team is inherently beatable and has holes. The product of the cap succeeding.  HitSquad hs a tough test with Breaking Bats.  When have you heard these vets having attendance issues?

Purple Reign – this team is back to being the diamonds and pearls of the league.  A great showing against Wahid and the HitSquad. Almost sweeping. They brought the energy, they brought the offense and enough defense.  One thing that they didn’t bring was three of their best players.  Once Ramadan is over and crossovers aren’t an issue. This team is downright scary.

Ones – In an opportunity to make a statement against the Bengals the Ones weren’t the ones on top. They were another victim of the Bengal parade as they are now victim number 4 and 5 of the Bengals.  The Ones have to be disappointed as a few weeks ago they were in the thick of things.  Now other teams are starting to create distance as the Ones are in last place.

Breaking Bats – For all of the talk about Purple Reign – the Breaking Bats have a better offense and a better defense and the same record.  They have a great test this weekend against the suddenly vulnerable HitSquad. Great statement series for the team.  The #1 seed is going to be huge in the National League with the way the playoffs are going to work out. Breaking Bats being a vet team knows what’s at stake and are playing like it.

Bengals – 7-5 is impressive. More so when you start the season 2-5. Sal and his green bunch have put the pedal to the metal and are winning in different ways. A combination of offense and defense clicking at the right time.  With the influx of players, the Bengals needed some time to sort it out. But, they have and are not getting talked about enough. This team is in the thick of things. Who wants to play them in the playoffs?

Dynasty – talks of the demise of Dynasty were premature. The vets responded by splitting with Breaking bats in 2 highly competitive games.  Dynasty at 4-6 needs to put a few more wins together as they are right now on the outside looking in for playoffs.  This team is too talented not to be in the thick of things. Dynasty has been historically a second-half team.  So let’s see how they continue in the upcoming weeks.

Strike Force – week in and week out this team surprises the critics.  Taking a game from the nWO giving them 5 wins on the season so far.  This team brings the fire and starting to sizzle at the right time.  They got grilled in game 1 but returned the favor in game 2 by smoking nWO to earn the split.

nWO – when the highlight of your season is your nicknames on your jerseys you are in trouble.  Not only has Ayaz been pushed off of his pedestal he isn’t the best bbqer in the SASL anymore.  The way that they have been reminiscing on the softball chat.  Crazy Eddie needs to go crazy on his own team and get them going.  This team was supposed to contend at the beginning of the year.  Right now they are more bushwhackers than New World Order.
