Week 4 – The Buzz – American League

The Buzz

Let’s dive right into it. Kudos to Commish Anwar for making the “gutsy” call to have games going on this weekend. After all of the crying and complaining, we all got our games in right?  Except for

The Outlaws – after starting out 2-0 they are 3-5 and laid an absolute donut by not showing up. This team known for its dysfunction at times is already imploding with people openly talking about not captaining the team again next year and asking for teams to pick them up. Empire got two free wins which put them at 5-3 –  Yikes

Empire – is above.500 and have a 43 run differential.  That is huge! The record doesn’t show it…yet but with a 43 run differential, they are clicking offensively and defensively. Remember this is the same team that went yard 6 times in an inning earlier this year.  43 runs are more than 516 of the Mighty Ducks.

The Mighty Ducks – going into this season they were predicted to be where the Troopers are currently.  A team that was going to put forth a gallant effort but otherwise fail. After chastising the Softballers, Saad and company have infused some of their best players with Nadeem, Atif, and Zeeshan.  The under the radar offseason moves have paid immediate dividends as they are undefeated.  Yes, undefeated!  If….the Saad Yousuf and Siddique Farooqi championship drought come to an end.  Is the league ready for the Saad Yousuf Experience?

516 – 6-2 but have let up 75 runs. 75 runs put them on the same defensive level as the Scorers who are second to the last place only above the Storm Troopers. This team is such a monster that we really have to dive deep to find any real weakness. Are we just trying to bring them down?  Or is there really a weakness on this Goliath.

Scooby Scorers – you can lump the Outlaws, Savages, and Scorers in the same category.  Around the same offensive and defensive levels.  They need a few things to click to move forward, but they are also a few issues away from being out of it completely. With 4 vs 5 playing in the wild card.  There are going to be some really good teams that are going to be on the outside looking in for the first time.

Savages – Can we admit that this team is seriously missing Yasar.  This is the juggernaut that ran through the rest of the league. Now all of sudden they forgot to play ball? Could it be some championship hangover for this team?  Perhaps, but just like teams like HitSquad are built around pitching.  Savages seem to be missing Yasar, we know that our WhatsApp group is definitely missing him.

Storm Troopers – if you look at this team it’s not the defense. Their defense is not the best but when you have only scored 23 runs in 6 games that is downright scary. Averaging 4 runs a game isn’t going to cut it.  I think that the Troopers are learning the real difference between division 1 and division 2. Those elite defenses and pitching are locking them down.

The Met’s finally brought 10 people to a game and got the wins to show for it. If this is a precursor of what’s to come the league is on notice that we have another contender for the SASL throne.
