SASL D3 2021 – Week 5 Power Rankings
- Batz (7-5) – Batz take the top spot this week with a pair of forfeiture wins gifted by the High Rollers. Previously, the Batz narrowly beat out Resurrection – earning them their first trip to the top of the power rankings. Sajeel Haque and Nabeel Haque have provided big hits all season long while excellent pitching has stifled opposing teams.
- Resurrection (7-5) – Resurrection dropped a pair of games over the weekend putting them on a losing streak as we head into the holiday weekend. They’re still one of the top teams in the league. However, with the other teams hitting their groove, Resurrection could tumble in the power rankings unless they right the ship.
- High Rollers (7-5) – The High Rollers forfeited this week and are at #3 in the power rankings this week. They’re still dangerous and are poised to make some moves after the break There’s parity amongst the top teams in the league so the rankings can shift at a moment’s notice. Prince Panicker and Kunal Oak are batting over .800 and their squad is consistent on both offense and defense.
- Ruff Ryders (6-6) – The Ruff Ryders faced a scrappy Hornets team this week and settled on a split with both clutch hits and occasional lapses in defense. The middle of the lineup can still rake; Zeshan Hamdani, Fabio Perez and Sikander Dhillon have been locked in offensively all season long. They’ve put up nearly 60 runs in the last two weeks. They’re ranked at #4 this week and can climb the rankings with a sweep following the bye.
- Dad Bods (5-5) – The Dad Bods were swept this week by the High Rollers dropping them an even .500 for the season. There’s an argument for putting them in the 4th spot but with their impressive wins over the course of the season. Their defense could only do so much against solid offense from the High Rollers. They’ll look to rest during the bye week and come out swinging.
- Hornets (2-8) – Attendance and lack of practice time are still issues but they showed some life this week with two hard fought games against the Ruff Ryders. The Hornets’ stellar outfield defense featuring “Uncle Jesse” and Yash Mahajan kept the Hornets in it until Ruff Ryders’ Fabio Perez hit a go-ahead grand-slam late in game 1. The Hornets eventually grinded out a split with “Daddy Dar” flashing some leather at 2nd base and timely strikeouts from Tariq. Shehzad Asif was nearly perfect at the plate in his first game back from a hand injury.
