A New Reign: NL Power Rankings (Week 3)

A new #1 in the National League

A new #1 in the National League

1. Purple Reign

They are the talk of the town with a 5-1 record. What is hidden within that record is how close most of their games were. A few 1 run games against Strike Force, Dynasty etc. But winning such games shows grit and a winning attitude.

2. Hit Squad

Pitching, Defense and some more Pitching. The winning formula for this team never changes. Wahid has won a few SASL Cy Young’s in his HOF career, but this year might be the most impressive. Add in new additions Ronak Jain, Joel Enai and Sukhjinder Singh and the arrow is pointing up.

3. Breaking Bats

Lots and lots of break out players on this team. Under the Radar feature last week featured Fazeel Haque, but that’s not to mention some of their other talents. If their trio of superstars (League MVP Kunal, Zeeshan, and Sajeel) has better attendance, we can see this team leaping to the number 1 seed.

4. nWo

They score about the same rate as they give up runs. Some games they look fantastic, and some games they look like they belong in Division 3. So you have a 3-3 record with a lot of room for improvement. With a deep roster and some potential stars, they need better leadership from the core group of guys.

5. Strike Force

They could have easily been 4-2 instead of 2-4. Two 2 run losses to Purple Reign hurts now and will hurt worse later in the season when it comes to playoff time with only 4 teams advancing. This team has given up by far the most runs in the National League. So, there is zero doubt what their Achilles heel is. And you don’t win with a lack of defense in the SASL.

6. Dynasty

Last week they split with NWO. This week they picked up David Rodriguez who won a fall championship and is a former All Star. He solidifies an otherwise average outfield and gives Dynasty a top tier leadoff hitter. This can be a game changer in this division. Overall, the team had been mediocre and looks like some infusion of youth is needed to bring some energy.

7. The Ones

Probably the most disappointing team in the entire NL. After a huge week 1, they are in a 0-4 rut with no end in sight for their misery. Playing against Dynasty should help this week. A middle of the lineup of Amby and Naeem should be dominating this league. No excuses guys. Time to pick it up.

8. Bengals

A lack of Softball IQ mixed with a penchant for untimely errors has this team towards the bottom of the Power Rankings. On paper, this team is well constructed. However, on the field, bad attendance has the team playing players out of position and it has cost them dearly. Travis, Matt and Faisal has played well thus far but Salman, Kyle and Manju need to step up for this team to have a chance.
