Breaking Bats v Strike Force to be made up
There’s one week left.
There’s only 2 definites in the NL. NWO has no shot at the playoffs and Dynasty is locked into 3rd. Everything else is up for grabs.
1 and 2 will be Breaking Bats and Hit Squad who ends up where is to be determined. Neither team holds the tiebreaker as they split their series each game by 1 run. The next tie breaker would be record and run differential against Dynasty. Breaking Bats have a make up with Strike Force and a series against Dynasty. They can end anywhere between 17-9 and 21-5. Hit Squad has a series left with Purple Reign, the best they can do is 19-7. Breaking Bats need to go 3-1 to clinch 1st seed. If they go 2-2 at worst they will be tied with Hit Squad with tie breaker determined based on how Breaking Bats did against Dynasty. Anything less and they give Hit Squad a chance to over take. If Hit Squad gets swept they can still over take 1st seed if Breaking Bats lose all 4. In this scenario Hit Squad would hold a better tiebreaker against Dynasty and over take Bats for 1st seed. If BB makeup game against SF does not happen than there can not be a tie. BB would need 1 win against Dynasty or 1 HS loss to clinch 1st seed. HS would have to win both and hope BB loses both to clinch 1st seed.
As for the 2 wild card spots 4 teams still have a chance. Strike Force is still in it but would need a lot to fall their way. For them to have any chance they need to win all 4 of their remaining games. If they can manage to get past Breaking Bats and NWO they need Bengals and One’s to split and for Hit Squad to sweep Purple Reign. In this scenario SF, PR and Bengals would all be tied at 11-15 with Strike Force having tiebreaker over Bengals, Bengals having tie breaker over Purple Reign and Purple Reign having tie breaker over Strike Force. The next tie breaker would be record and run differential against the team that ends in 1st. If this scenario plays out they would have a 3-1 record against Breaking Bats and a 2-2 record against Hit Squad giving them a better record against the top 2 teams compared with Purple Reign and Bengals. They would then take 5th seed with Ones as a 4th seed. If Strike Force loses even one game, above scenario does not play out or if their makeup doesn’t happen they are out.
As for the other 3 teams it’s pretty simple, you win and you’re in. Fortunately for Purple Reign the One’s and Bengals play each other so someone is coming out with a loss there. Purple Reign needs to win only one game and they clinch a spot. If they get swept they still have a chance as long as the Bengals/One’s game ends in a sweep in either direction. If One’s get swept PR would hold tie breaker and make it in. If Bengals get swept than PR would have a better record. PR is hoping there’s a sweep in that series since they would clinch.
The One’s also need just 1 win and they are in. They would end with a better record than Bengals and Strike Force. Whether they are 4th or 5th depends on how PR does. If the One’s get swept they are out of the playoffs as PR holds tie breaker. They can’t afford to show up short handed or have a bad day. Unlike PR there’s no scenario where they can get in if they lose 2.
Bengals need 2 wins. If they sweep the One’s they clinch. If they split they have to hope Strike Force loses one and PR gets swept as they hold the tiebreaker over PR. 2 losses and they are out.
Which team will make it and which team will be left out? Going to be an exciting final week. Can Strike Force pull out the most unlikeliest scenario? Despite going 1-9 in their last 10 Bengals still have a shot at making it in, can they turn their season around when it matters the most?
Just a reminder to all wild card teams. If there’s a rain out on SNL and the following Sunday games are still on 4th seed automatically advances. So it’s not just about getting in, have to make sure you get that 4th seed. Don’t want to go through all this struggle and then go home because of rain.
Good luck to all teams still fighting for a spot.
