NL’s Top Teams Split in Week 6 Encounter
1 – Hit Squad (7-3)
Hit Squad maintains 1st seed. Going up against a good Purple Reign team they split. They have been 5-1 in their last 6 games after being swept by Strike Force. They have a tough matchup this week against Breaking Bats. Can they keep that coveted 1st seed?
2 – Purple Reign (8-4)
3-1 in their last 4 games, taking care of the 8th seeded One’s and then splitting with top seeded Hit Squad. These guys have met some high praise from ex-commissioner Ammad. They have the rising Bengals up next, can the live up to the hype?.
3 – Breaking Bats (8-4)
Playing 2-2 ball in the last 2 weeks against sub .500 teams isn’t how you stay on top. They have the league’s best offense and will be going up against the league’s best pitcher in Wahid. They have a chance to overtake the 1 seed this weekend, but will be no easy task.
4 – Bengals (7-5)
5-0 in their last 5 after starting 2-5. It have been an impressive 2.5 weeks, but 4 of those wins come against the bottom two teams. Purple Reign is up next, a good test to see if they can compete against the top teams.
5 – Strike Force (5-7)
3-3 in their last six, 2 of those wins coming against teams ahead of them. They have had some good games and some poor games. Consistency is what they need to climb the rankings. Their next 4 games are against teams below them in rankings, good opportunity to make up some ground.
6 – Dynasty (4-6)
Dynasty is coming off an impressive split with Breaking Bats. They have the 3rd best run differential and the best defense yet sit in 6th place right now. They have the experience and skill to beat any team in the division. With a sweep over Strike Force this weekend they can move up into a wildcard spot.
7 – NWO (4-8)
What happened to NWO? After starting the season 2-0 they have been 2-8 in their last 10. They were able to manage a win against Strike Force last week which may end up being a big win. They statistically have the worst defense thus far. But, have a chance to turn things around as they have the One’s this weekend and a chance to get back in the thick of things.
8 – The Ones (3-9)
Also started 2-0 and then everything came crashing down. Only managing one win since then they have struggled to hit with other teams. Being one of 2 teams averaging less than 10 runs a game they need an offensive boost. Fortunate for them they are playing the worst defense this weekend. They can’t get swept or their chances at a wild card spot will be slim.
With the top 4 teams playing against each other this weekend it gives the bottom 4 a chance to gain some much needed ground before the mid season break. In the Dynasty vs Strike Force match-up if either team sweeps they can get themselves back into the mix getting closer to a top 3 seed.
If The One vs NWO match-up ends up in a sweep the winning team is back in the wild card mix and the one that gets swept will have a hard climb ahead.
