TROOPERS: Can you put “LAST” in Caps Lock?!

What is there to say about the 2018 version of the TROOPERS?

How many forfeits does it take to kick this team out of the league? Finishing the season 2-24 with more forfeits than we care to count, they joined the annals of SASL history for unforgettably bad teams. What is truly shocking is how bad they became so fast.

In 2017 they were in the wild card playoffs. In 2017 they beat the Savages to give the Savages their first loss. In 2017, they boasted all stars Kauffman, Verity, Edwards, etc. in 2018, they finished with a -171 run differential. YUCK.

2018 season recap:

It sucked. Their 2 wins came via a Scorers forfeit. They scored 64 runs in a full season. That’s less than 3 runs a game. They sent 0 All stars to the mid season classic out of shame. Let’s move on.

Looking into the future:

Let’s make this quick; they need a brand new team with committed core. They need to recruit, land and sign top tier free agents. Players like Gage, Bryan, Binu are nice gets for depth but they don’t move the needle in the AL division. Get players that can backup Kauffman and Edwards. Can they sign outside players? We will see.

Final Thoughts:

After a dud of a season, there is zero reasons to expect Sunil and Mohan has the guile to take the next steps. Yes, a merger with Scorers was about to happen before Scorers went their own way right before the season. Lesson? Take down payments and make it non refundable. Can they outmaneuver the other captains this offseason? Make players pay to screw you in the last minute. Let’s see if this team can stay in the AL next season and retool. Most AL players are hoping they stick around so they can pad their own stats.

Have some pride and come back strong next year, TROOPERS!
