Can 516 avoid the bright lights of SNL?

American League Power Rankings

1. Ducks

They are a week away from accomplishing the unbelievable undefeated season. Some nail biters against a 9 man Outlaws roster last week but somehow this team pulls out the victory. #1 seed is locked and now they can start planning their time and field of choice for the playoffs. A doubleheader-Scorers and then Savages are the last hurdle in the way to SASL history this weekend.

2. Savages

Ducks rainout, Troopers forfeit and the Mets rain out. We haven’t seen this team play in weeks. Will the lack of SASL play hurt this team? When you have countless veteran names as the Savages have and the fire power on the offense they should have no problem overcoming such a task. Still the team to beat by everyone’s projections. But then again they are 1-5 against Ducks and 516.

3. Mets

Maybe the rainout vs the Savages helped this team qualify for that elusive 3rd seed. However a hungry Empire team will be playing for the season and a defeat could drop the Mets into SNL play. Playoff competition will begin this week and the Mets will have to bring their A game to win. Third seed means a series against Savages, which is better than a one game take all SNL where anything can happen.

4. 516

They’re possibly a game away from escaping Saturday play if they sweep. So much on the line depending on results from other matchups to determine 516’s destination. If they get that 3rd seed SASL could get the dream matchup for the semifinals, Savages vs 516 where 516 has won 3 of the 4 games this season. First however, the Playoffs start this week vs the Outlaws. As Denen likes to say, “Just Play Ball!!”

5. Outlaws

A couple of low scoring losses that Outlaws should have easily won 1, if not both. Playing with only 9 players in such an important game? They’ve put themselves in the position they’re in and only they can win themselves out of it with 1 week left. 516 will have just as much on the line making a great matchup to the last week of the season.

6. Empire

I guess they’ve realized they don’t have any games to give away. Predicted to miss the playoffs last week are now in the driver seat to make sure they’re in. Mets will be playing after a 2 week break, so it’s just the right time for a hot Empire squad coming off convincing wins. Exciting last week where any team can finish anywhere from the 3 to 6 seeds. There are already rumors of what happens to this franchise if they don’t make it to the playoffs, so we expect them to come out with fire.

7. Scooby Scorers

Haven’t quit and have 1 more week after a disappointing season. They have the core to build a winner and should be looking to build next week. This week however they’re focused on spoiling the Ducks undefeated season and walking away with a smile towards the 2019 season. A big off season ahead for this team. They can go in a lot of different direction, but getting a core group of committed players will determine if they remain at the bottom of the heap or come back stronger next year.

8. TROOPERS

They’ve had injuries derailing any hope of playing the rest of the season. Need improvement but I expect a good future for these guys in 2019. Good luck to the Troopers in the NL division.
