The Buzz – National League

National League

Breaking Bats is in first place after disposing of Purple Reign.  The family tree greatly expanded last year adding brother from another mother Kunal and lad from another Dad in Zeeshan. But, the team is on a roll winning 6 in a row.  They sent Purple Reign back to earth with a sweep this week.  This week they take on the up and coming Strike Force.

Strike Force – for a team that was supposed to go winless no one told the Hamdani and Naqvi bros as they are in a 5-way tie in 4th place.  They took 2 from HitSquad and split with the Bengals this week.  This team is in the thick of things.  In the remaining weeks ahead they have to attempt to separate themselves from the rest of the division.

HitSquad – A few weeks ago we had left them for dead. But, it looks like their bat signal was answered as the roster make over paid immediate dividends with Joel, Ronak, and Sukhjinder making immediate contributions in their sweeps of NWO and the Ones.  But, the easier part of their schedule is over.  Time to man up and play the big boys of the division.

Bengals – how is this team only 3-5, they have brought back the core group together and then some. Is it attendance or is it chemistry?  Either way, taking a 21-9 beating this weekend told us a lot about Strike Force but also about the Bengals defense or lack of it.  They need to plug up their holes and let that offense carry them.

NWO – Great uniforms, great content, great group of guys – a 3-5 softball team. They lost two close games to the HitSquad group this week. But, if you are going to contend for a championship you have to win these games.  Team Darooki has to put the best people in the best positions to win.  The division is deep and they find themselves with the Bengals, The Ones, and Strike Force.  It isn’t going to get any easier in the upcoming weeks.

Dynasty – the biggest disappointment this year in the division. Fresh off of multiple finals appearances and a Fall finals appearance this team was expected to be near the top of the division.  This isn’t where we are accustomed to seeing Dynasty.  The silver lining for the Dynasty rain cloud is that with their run differential they should be in the top 2 in the division. So could be a combination of some bad luck.

The Ones – coming off getting swept they took one from Dynasty which is a good sign. This team plays hard and is aggressive but they haven’t put the wins together.  They need to get their runners on base for Amby Cruceta and Naeem. This team has the potential to surprise some people but so far they haven’t put it together.

Purple Reign – How can we leave this team standing, alone in a division so cold.  This division is so demanding. This is what it sounds like when a team falls back down to earth. After the hot start, injuries and attendance are taking the toll on Purple Reign.  They aren’t the darlings of the divisons any longer.  They are still at 5-3 but after getting swept by Breaking Bats they can see a bunch of teams in the rearview mirror.
